Deuces
Requiring sufficient amplification within the confines of the Vette was a major concern for Saltzman. To alleviate this problem, Crowder incorporated the amprack into the sub enclosure to maximize space with just enough room to install the two Rockford Fosgate T4004 amplifiers. With "only" 200 watts (at 4 ohms) on tap, the amps were used to their utmost efficiency; one amplifier powers the four outside front channels in the car, while the other amplifier is bridged to control the center channel and the subwoofer.
Tying all the components together, Rockford Fosgate Riot RCA cables and speaker wire were used. Detailed wiring in the signal path was wrapped in color-coded Flex Tech material and labeled to avoid any wiring confusion and ease in system maintenance. Little items like these are not only good for troubleshooting, but show the real potential of a truly obsessed audiophile.
Extras
Saltzman and Crowder gutted the entire vehicle and applied Dynamat Extreme to the doors and floorboards, but left the hatch area untreated due to the already compromised space holding the sub enclosure.
Security comes by way of an Ungo security system, installed with all the basic security functions, including a trigger to open the hatch. Living in the desert with temperatures reaching well over 100 degrees, Saltzman's installation of a remote start has made it a huge benefit in cooling the vehicle down to a tolerable internal temperature.
Saltzman accomplished a dream nine years in the making and is certain to be a contender for top prize. Even now in its infancy on the show circuit, the Vette has already garnered the nickname "BlakMajik" due to its monotone color and the smoke and mirror tactics running rampant in SQ competitions. With an audiophile audio system in his dream come true black Vette, Saltzman has the best of both worlds.
