There is plenty of flexibility in system configuration of external equipment. Four channels of powered output can be connected to existing speakers, providing 22 watts per channel to each. Stereo analog outputs with 4-volt swings are available for Front, Rear, and Non-fading (subwoofer) external amplifiers. Two stereo-plus-video auxiliary inputs give you a place to connect a video game and a rear-view camera, or any other audio-video source. Also included is an A/V output to drive external monitors. Control wires are provided for external amp turn-on, a motorized antenna, cell phone mute, and dimmer control. Another wire connects to your parking brake to prevent the display from being deployed when the vehicle is in motion (check with local law enforcement to see if this is necessary). The head unit is separate from the I/O box, and the two connect via a proprietary cable with high-density connectors. This same type of cable is used to connect CD changers, and there is a DIN connector for compatibility with additional CD changer types. Another DIN connector is dedicated for connection to the optional KNA-DV2100 voice navigation system. Surround encoded output is handled via optical cable when you add the surround processor.
Additional options that you can add include the KPA-HD100 heads up display, an electronic compass, a sensor unit to measure temperatures and voltages, and a weather band tuner that picks up continuous broadcasts from the National Weather service.
The KVT-911DVD represents a new paradigm in mobile electronics, where touch-screen video is at the center of a universe of multimedia and information. It acts as the central hub in an amazing array of mobile electronics that was only dreamed of just a few years ago.
