The enclosure design began in the trunk, where a section of formed steel tubing was welded up and bolted to the rear package tray. This served as the mount for the enclosure.

With the dimensions set, the box was built. The step notch on the back of the enclosure was made to clear the forward section of the package tray and to facilitate support for the rear of the enclosure.

The enclosure was ported out the side. Note that the interior surfaces were carpeted, since the inside of the box will be visible. The carpet also reduces harmonics and dampens the wood, making the enclosure sound better.

The face of the enclosure was mounted temporarily with tape and a steel angle strap was trimmed out and test-fit.

The enclosure was then mounted to the steel tubing in the trunk.

The acrylic tubes were built from 9-inch tubes and a 3/4-inch ring. The ring was cut to match the outer diameter of the tubes and then narrowed on the lower half on the router table using a rabbet bit to match the inner diameter. This piece forms the subwoofer-mounting surface. The flat acrylic and the tubes were sealed together with capillary plastic cement.

The front plate was then removed and sprayed with glue and upholstered with Ultrasuede.

The tubes were placed in the front plate and supported by wood blocks.

The tubes were glued in place on the backside of the front plate.

The front plate was then glued and screwed in place to the rest of the enclosure. The remaining Ultrasuede was wrapped around the enclosure as well.

The 8-inch Digital Designs subs just about fill the entire acrylic tube.

The finished product looks great and soundsamazing.
