This picture shows some serious scratches in the black polyurethane panel right out of the box. These scratches will have to be repaired by sanding with fine-grit sandpaper and a 3M soft-interface pad prior to primer and paint. | This original opening in the front skirt of the body kit was one of the areas where we handmade fiberglass panels to accent the body kit. | All factory body components were photo documented prior to removing the fasteners from the car, so that if ever needed, the factory components can be reinstalled in their correct positions. |
All of the Civic's OEM plastic body components were removed from the car. | The aftermarket rear body skirt was bolted to the car with 12mm bolts in the factory-mounting locations. | The front skirt was lifted onto the car and bolted into place. The upper-center opening is where we'll make the first fiberglass panel and insert. |
The fiberglass rear-quarter panel flares were bolted to the polyurethane side skirts with 8/32 x 3/4 bolts. | A nut rivet tool was used to inject 8/32 nuts into the fiberglass for attachment. A small amount of CA glue on the backside of the nut helped keep the rivet nut from stripping. | The door cap moldings were set into place for a test-fit or mock-up. |
