Q I recently bought a used Clarion DRX9375R and I am having a problem using some functions. Since it is used I have no manual to refer too. My question(s) are: how do you set this deck for European tuning frequencies? And where can I get a manual for this deck? I have a European version of this deck that I purchased new but it does not function the same as the American version, so the European manual does not help. Due to me being an American in Germany, the local shop just laughs when I ask for tech help for American products, and Clarion's Web page doesn't assist the customer too much. The Clarion site has an instruction on how to perform this but it does not work for my deck. Thanks for your assistance!David DegrootVia the Internet
There was a time when different countries used different "tuner packs" to allow operation in the local area. This would always lead to the inevitable problem when someone relocated to another part of the world with his stereo. Fortunately, new head unit design has changed the tuner capability, making this is a fairly easy switchover.
All you need to do is hold down the "Band" button while tuning to the left or right. This will cause the processor to cycle through the various world-tuning schemes until you stop on the one you want. By the way, I would be tempted to laugh at the local shop that laughed at you - as "pros" they should know this!
Q Hi there. I have this question for my amplifier. I have a Power Acoustik SP2X-820 Fire & Ice Series which runs 200 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms (mono) and 600 watts x 2 @ 2 ohms (stereo). I only have one wire terminal in my box so I have to bridge it 400 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms (mono). I am running two 12" Rockford DVC subs so I can play around with the wiring to drop the ohm impedance, but now I'm running it at 4 ohms to be safe. Are there any other wiring configurations that you can advise me that I can use for my amplifier without shorting it out?AudioNut (Maynard)Via the Internet
Without knowing which version (impedance) of subs you have, I can't tell you for sure which way would be optimum for wiring. However, having a single terminal on the cabinet is an easy problem to cure. You can purchase terminal cups from your local car audio retailer, and then separate the voice coils to individual terminal cups. You can then experiment with wiring combinations to obtain the best match with your amplifier.
