You've seen the factory FJ; what about some custom trucks with all the tricks. This is how you make a great ride even better. Al & Ed's, a Southern Californian chain, presented a trio of FJs at the LA Auto Show. True to the utility vehicle's purpose, they didn't tamper with the usability of any of the FJs. In fact, they added to it.
LA Auto Show FJ Cruiser
The project car of the 2007 LA Auto Show was upgraded with off-roading in mind. To match the performance package, Al & Ed's installed Pioneer screens right in front of the steering wheel. These let you keep an eye on the rocks and crunk in front of and behind the FJ's Axis Regulator wheels.
Pioneer component speakers take residence in the A-pillars and are backed up by a quartet of shallow subs in the cargo space walls. For show, additional screens glow in the headliner, tailgate and doors, all connected to the Pioneer DVD player with Scosche accessories.
Al & Ed's Black Cherry FJ Cruiser
Also imminently useful, this black cherry FJ makes use of Alpine's compact PDX amps and shallow JL Audio 10W1v2-4 subs to maintain the rugged cargo space. For tailgating, a single Sharp 20-inch LCD was smoothed into the tailgate. The no-nonsense dash sports the Alpine IVA-W200 head unit, teamed up with Rockford Fosgate's 3sixty.2 processor, a variety of tuners and a backup camera.
Al & Ed's Yellow FJ Cruiser
Perfect for pre-game festivities with plenty of room for your cooler, grill and three of your best buds, this yellow FJ weighs heavily in the rear with a 37-inch HD LCD monitor paired up with an Xbox 360. Why bother looking at the rest of the pics? Well, the five amps cleverly placed in the rear side panel opposite a pair of Alpine SWR-1022d subs are worth a look. Other speakers include MB Quart PCE 210 components and PCE 164 midbasses, all running off another IVA-W200 receiver.
