In the sheer nuts and bolts of racing gamery, TDU is not all that special. The graphics of Hawaii roads and scenes are below average for a next-gen console game. The handling is a little too sensitive. The engines don't seem to purr quite right. All of that aside, Test Drive is an unmistakably fun game. Driving around the island is actually more amusing than racing. You can weave around slow-moving geriatrics and soccer moms; and their slug-mobiles make your ride seem that much faster.
