When it comes to drive, the chassis is stiffened from the S40 coupe, and the sport setup option stiffens the ride and lowers the height 1" on 18" wheels. The top-line T5 is the only one offered in the U.S., but with a standard turbo 2.5L five-cylinder moving it along, it's a great start. Although, the charges on 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway might not be worth the turbo charge. There's still a bit of torque steer as a front-drive only, especially with the five-speed automatic as opposed to the six-speed manual, but you hardly hear the front tire hop over the sound of the system anyway. Overall, everything you'd expect from a car labeled "sporty" is not quite there, but what is there is perfectly balanced.
When it comes to that glass-hatch bay window in the back, some may wish for more privacy. Or, if you're one of those who wants even more than what Dynaudio provides, the trunk space may be the best custom display for whatever you want to install. Actually, the real reason for that big hatch comes directly from the SCC design concept. Seriously Cool Car? Nah, Safety Concept Car, previewing the BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), and the reason behind the increased visibility rear window. Typical-the C30's parents are supporting that rock 'n' roll lifestyle.
Perfect for the hipsters. Though you can't poll them. They will deny being one.
