The Civic Tour hits the road with Alpine, Good Charlotte, and New Found Glory.
The Civic Tour has become something of a concert mainstay, with past road-fests including Everclear, Blink 182, and Incubus. Each tour featured not only the band but a customized Honda Civic, tricked out per the band's specific instructions. This year, Honda will be taking two of punk's finest on the road, Good Charlotte and New Found Glory.
Both bands were handed Civic Si's and given cart blanche to run wild with them. Konig wheels, APC muffler tips and taillights, Wings West body kits, Sprint performance suspension, Yokohama tires, and more were added, including full Alpine sound systems.
Alpine's CVA-1004 Mobile Multimedia Station is the brain for each system, complete with AM/FM receiver, XM Satellite tuner, and 6.5-inch motorized, widescreen monitor. The system also includes nav, DVD, two 10" subs, and two amps, with a full wattage of 720. Two pairs of speakers hit the highs in the front and back.
The Good Charlotte ride was done up as "a ghetto redneck's dream," in the words of guitarist Benji Madden. It's got a custom paintjob (including airbrushed orange mushroom cloud on the hood), a Nighthawk Black Pearl base, the words "Young," "Hopeless," and "Good Charlotte" painted on the sides, plus autographs, all in green. The interior features green stitching along the seats, steering wheel and shift knob, plus customized floormats and racing seats.
The New Found Glory whip features a unique red-to-black fade from front to back. The band's logo is emblazoned on the hood, with autographs on the driver's side. Ghost flames and the band's website complete the exterior. The carpet in the interior was pulled up and replaced with Astroturf and logos were applied to floormats and headrests. A Nintendo Game Cube rounds it out.
Six of each of the cars will be given away by the bands along their 50-date tour. Check out www.ticketmaster.com for venue information.
