Already a staple of the IASCA arena at the age of 26, Michael Galligan set out to further his reputation as a quality installer with this Electron Blue 1999 Honda Civic Si. With a small team and an IASCA rulebook at his disposal, Galligan began by stripping the car down on the first night to apply Dynamat Premium and Extreme to all metal surfaces. Not one to waste time, he went into the project full tilt.
The central hub of the system is a PLC Direct Monitor with homegrown computer software (courtesy of John Lopes) to control many of the system's functions. Switching units for the monitor are located on the trunk floor and surrounded by painted fiberglass. The switches control the ability to turn on and off each amplifier, see how many watts each amp is putting out, know the amps and wattage each speaker is receiving, and more.
For the front stage, the team selected a set of MB Quart QSD 216, 6-1/2" components mounted in a set of custom-made Q-Forms kick panels. To ensure a sealed enclosure, the final panel was layered with Dynamat and carpet. Installed in the factory location in the door is a set of MB Quart 160 02 TX paper cone midbass drivers to anchor the system. The result is incomparable sound quality and another fine system to add to Galligan's already impressive repertoire.
