Ford has announced that it will offer HD Radio as a standard or optional feature in Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles starting in 2009. That's good news for HD Radio since it gives consumers who many not have been aware of or have not yet tried HD Radio a chance to get hooked to this digital radio technology. For Ford, it lets them offer potential buyers more features. They can already entice them with SYNC (check out our review in the April issue on sale now) and Sirius Travel Link (more info on that is in our CES issue on sale in March). But, HD Radio offers great local and community entertainment and info that services like Sirius may not have. Of course, if you aren't in the market for a new ride, there are over 50 HD receivers on sale... for your car or your home. And HD Radio is now available to over 80 percent of the population. More than 1,500 AM/FM stations currently offer free digital content, including more than 700 HD2/HD3 multicast stations offering unique formats and content.
