RealNetworks Soothes The Beast with RealAudioRealNetworks, the world leader in audio and video delivery over the Internet, produced the world's first live Internet radio broadcast - a Seattle Mariner's baseball game - in 1995, setting the standard for a new Internet media industry that is quickly becoming a popular mass medium. Now they have taken their show on the road, bringing the music experience on the Internet to the car environment. RealNetworks in collaboration with a team of audio system experts led by Alma Gates has made it possible to listen to RealAudio music files in a vehicle in a very big way. The Beast is a 48,000-watt car sound system with a Ford Bronco built around it. Designed to be four times louder than a 747, the Beast has set 14 world records in "boom-bass" car audio competitions. RealAudio is a technology that delivers great sounding audio files over narrowband dial-up modems and broadband connections. It may seem like an unlikely pairing until one experiences the result of the marriage. Recently at the Fall 2000 Internet World Expo the Beast demonstrated that high quality Internet sound is now a reality at any volume, playing music files via a personal computer at a pleasantly loud volume.
