All The Bits And PiecesSound dampening is taken care of by Dynamat Xtreme installed on the doors and all around the trunk. Everything gets interconnected with Phoenix Gold, from the 16-gauge speaker wire to the 2-gauge power and ground to the RCA cables and the circuit breaker mounted under the hood. An Optima YellowTop battery provides the juice for the entire system's 1,700 watts, with a Power Acoustik 20-farad capacitor mounted in the trunk. A Phoenix Gold distro-block holds the fuses. Cantagallo topped it all off with blue neon lights accenting the audio components, interior and even the engine. Lastly, an Automate Model 553 security system with a remote start keeps everything secure.
What Fits? For the video source, it's the Pioneer head unit with the 7-inch flip-down touchscreen. "I have always dealt with Pioneer," Cantagallo reports, "and I will continue to purchase their head units for as long as I am in the game." He wanted to use the stock headrests in catering to the viewing pleasure of backseaters, so he custom-installed Boss 4-inch monitors. "They produce a decent quality picture and were a perfect fit," he says. But he admits that "fit" is the key word in that sentence and choice. "At the time I found it difficult to find small enough TVs to fit in the stock headrests."
Cantagallo's pride and joy has won over 30 trophies, including Best of Show, Best In-Car-Entertainment and Best Paint - all this despite losing eight months of 2005 to being in the paint shop ("It's a long story," he sighs). But Cantagallo isn't content to rest on these laurels. "I would like to take my car to the next level, to be able to compete with high-end cars," he says. "One of the reasons I love my car so much is because I have put my own money and time into it. I would love to have an installer or a reputable shop take my car and use it as their canvas. The car is a work in progress and I will continue to change things around just to make my Rolla unique from the rest."
