Multichannel
1) The Blue Man Group The Complex (All-DTS/Dolby Digital)
2) The Blue Man Group The Blue Man Group (All-DVD audio)
The Blue Man Group has created very interesting and involving multichannel mixes. The Blue Man Group discs are a must-have if you have a 5.1 audio system in your car.
3) Alpine Multichannel Solutions Disc (DVD Audio 2,4)
4) Eagles Hell Freezes Over (DTS/Dolby Digital 1,20)
5) Diana Krall Live In Paris (All-DTS/Dolby Digital)
The following are selected songs from motion pictures that I mixed. I made copies from 24-bit digital music masters.
1) Brad Paisley "Find Yourself" (Dolby Digital- end credits of Cars)
This is an excellent recording done in Nashville, revealing how 5.1 can be used to showcase a beautiful song.
2) Cirque Du Soleil Journey of Man in IMAX 3-D
(DTS - No. 9 "Reveil" I think this is the title)
Benoit Jutras composed the music for this 3-D IMAX film. When I heard this piece I knew I had to have it to play in my car. It is a pure "E" ticket ride!

Listening
"Hey, Eric," comes the question from my boss, "can you come down here and give this car a listen?" Never mind that I was over my head in paperwork and other things that needed doing; I'd happily snap right to it ... right.
Of course, my attitude when I got out to the car, being the professional I am, was gracious and willing ... yeah. It didn't take long for Gary Summers and his quite remarkable car audio system to re-align my mood and entire day.
Summers, a professional in audio and a massive hobbyist in car audio, has dedicated a phenomenal amount of time to "getting it right!" As only a hobbyist can, he has lived, breathed, eaten, and passed this system through himself over and over again. With each hour he invested, he got closer and closer to perfection.
I really enjoyed listening to Summer's car. I nitpicked on a couple of things that I thought could use improvement, and he listened intently and with appreciation-a rare thing from most enthusiasts upon having their system judged. And when I say I was nitpicking, I mean that I had to give serious thought on what I was hearing and compare that to what I knew the source material should sound like. Then I filtered out what was different or missing and quantified whether that was a bad thing or not.
In stereo mode, the imaging was very solid, and fixed. Tonally, the sound was wonderful. The soundstage was transformative and transporting, taking you mentally into the arena or recording studio for a personal listening session with the band. In 5.1 DTS surround sound, the system did everything it did in stereo and then more. Everyone should have a chance to listen to and enjoy this car. It is excellent.
