An interesting choice, eight 8" Image Dynamics subs sit in a single enclosure that replaces the spare tire. "There has been this thought that bigger means better, so I guess my goal was to prove that old wives' tale wrong," Harrison comments in regard to the 8-inchers. Baker created a perimeter from 1.5" MDF and fiberglassed the entire box up to this barrier. After placing a set of rings to demarcate the speaker locations, he stretched fleece and applied resin. On top, he placed another set of eight rings sized to match the sub surrounds and stretched fleece all the way to the weather stripping around the hatch. The amount of 1.5-ounce fiberglass mat and resin piled up to a half-inch thick with the enclosure volume of 3.2ft3. It took four hours to wrap vinyl around the trim pieces.
The RSX got its first showing at Spring Break Nationals in Daytona Beach where Harrison placed third in the Amateur Street class. "I'm very proud of myself and the help I've gotten from people," Harrison says. But, he adds with a smile, "I won't take nothing less than first place at my next show!"
Amps, For the identical ampracks, Baker welded 1" by 2" steel into an angled T. This is bolted to the car and then acrylic was bolted to the steel. The Alpine PDX amps (two PDX-4.150 for the highs and two PDX-1.1000 for the subs) mount directly to the acrylic
