The Sony PlayStation game...
The Sony PlayStation game console which will soon be replaced by the PlayStation 2, flush mounted. MTXs 6000 6.5" component set in the doors. Another set resides in the rear deck's factory locations.
Recessed into the dash is an AutoVision 6-inch monitor for use exclusively with Henning's PlayStation, which is located in the custom fiberglass center console. Thomas removed the factory radio along with the air conditioner controls and installed the monitor inside a fiberglass enclosure. A Coustic CD player source unit is mounted with a standard fiberglass kit under the dash. The center console is also home to a conveniently located engine start button and air gauges for tank and bag pressure for the custom suspension.
The front stage consists of MTX T6.6 6.5-inch drivers and one-inch tweeters, mounted in the factory door locations. The inserts of each door were removed, fiberglassed, painted orange, and reinstalled. Rear fill is achieved with a MTX T6.6 6.5-inch component set. The rear speakers are mounted in the factory locations on the rear deck.
A custom fiberglass tub in the trunk houses two MTX 6104 10-inch subwoofers and the system's single amplifier, an MTX Thunder 4405 5-channel model. A standard sealed two-cubic foot subwoofer enclosure, made from medium density fiberboard (MDF) and fiberglass trim, sits inside the tub. The amplifier is mounted to the trunk floor just behind the subs. Two of the amp's channels are used for the front stage, and two are used for the rear. The fifth and final channel is designed exclusively for class D subwoofer use. Toucan Industries black light is used to highlight the work throughout the trunk.
For sound damping, Thomas used a little bit of Dynamat behind each speaker in the doors and rear deck. He also used some on the floor of the trunk.

To show off his car's audio/video capabilities at events, Henning might rock out to Limp Bizkit, Ludacrus, or Blink 182 while his PlayStation features the highly addictive Gran Turismo 2.
Henning accomplished his goal and then some with his new system. He has taken first place at every show he has been to since his car has been completed. He attends 12-15 car shows each year, sometimes traveling as far as Atlantic City or southern California.
In the near future Henning plans to swap out the PlayStation unit for his newly purchased PS2, adding DVD capability to the system. "I can't wait to try out Gran Turismo 3," he says. "I might not be able to pull myself away." He also has hopes to redesign the car's trunk, replacing the subwoofers and amplifier. After that, Henning plans to buy a second Civic and set to working on a completely new system.
