Bryan: To get people like [Fishman] and Mad Dog to say this thing is bad ass - that's cool, it means a lot when you get props from your peers. Because they understand and can appreciate it better than most people. It seems like we just pull ideas from each other and keep raising that bar.
CA&E: Talk about you partner Jason. How long has he been working with you, what is his position at Rockford?
Bryan: Jason is our newest fabricator/ technical trainer at RTTI. He has been with us for a little over seven months and comes from a strong retail background.
CA&E: How do you guys work together, do you separate sections on the vehicle?
Bryan: When we build our vehicles I try to have a system on how it's built. There are three main stages: 1) design; 2) construction; 3) finish stage. I will do the initial design and rough [work], then Jason will do a lot of the shaping and sanding getting it ready to finish. This works really well because then I can jump ahead and start a new project.
CA&E: Any tips you might want to give to installers out there?
Bryan: Anything is possible; your imagination is the limit.
CA&E: Is there anything else in store for Rockford in the near future? What project are you currently working on?
Bryan: We are currently working on finishing the second Frontier; we're shooting for the end of March or early April. Next year's vehicle is in the works and should be pretty outrageous!
CA&E: Did you do the painting on the inside or did you have some else paint the inside?
Bryan: We actually try to do most of the work in house (as much as possible). This gives us much more control over the vehicle. But there are always the instances where you have to have out-source to a vendor. The paint exterior/ interior was done by Rocky Felix (Rocky's Pure Custom Paint). Rocky actually works with us at our facility. We have our own paint booth so this makes it convenient when we need to paint complete vehicles or small interior parts. Diversified Auto & Home out of Tucson reupholstered the interior seats. The aluminum laser-cut logos were done by Active MFG in Tempe AZ. Most of the aluminum parts were machined in house by our team. i.e. (battery buss bars, speaker rings and arcs). But we did have Some CNC work done. The aluminum wheel stands were machined by GT manufacturing from Salt Lake City.
CA&E: At what future shows can installers check out the Nissan Frontier.
Bryan: The Frontier is going to be at: Chicago Auto Show, New York Auto Show, Spring Break Nationals, the dB Drag finals, IASCA finals, and USAC finals.
