From Home Garage to OEM
The man who is most responsible for the installation of the audio/video entertainment system in Rosen's UV-1 concept vehicle is Scott Parvin, electrical engineer technician for the Eugene, Oregon based company.
Parvin obtained a degree in electronics from Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, OR. The courses he took emphasized basic electronics and digital systems, but he did not get his installation experience from a retail shop. Instead, he picked up his initial knowledge of audio installation on his own, doing systems in his car when he was 16 years old, and later doing systems for friends. He said that he became interested in car audio after hearing other people drive by his home in cars with their own booming systems.
The job with Rosen Products LLC simply "fell into my lap," Parvin said. "The fact that I had experience doing audio systems on my own proved important because Rosen wasn't sure which way they would go - whether they wanted someone to do custom work or whether they wanted more of an assembly line kind of process." With the creation of the UV-1 concept vehicle, Rosen has chosen custom work, but they also are using Parvin on the assembly line concept.
Today, Parvin tests a lot of the products Rosen creates for the retail market. He has helped to construct some of the electronics assemblies and has tested these products before they go out for manufacturing. He will also assist in the creation of other concept vehicles in the future.
