The sound is, as you might have guessed, also very good for the money. It's a little underpowered for those mad moments when you want to be engulfed in a tidal wave of audio, but you can get some decent volume on your favorite song without any resonance or distortion. The balance of frequencies, and especially the nice up-front midbass, was the best aspect of overall sound quality. Listening to a USACi competition disc we found the sound system provided a very respectable stage height. Music imaged well for a factory system and the width of the soundstage, while not overwhelmingly impressive, was more than adequate. Whether reproducing rock, rap, jazz, pop or classical music, the Bose system performed well to above average. We would love to add a stout subwoofer and monoblock amp to boost the low end; but then, that's something that we find ourselves thinking for practically all factory systems. Obviously, if you're used to aftermarket you'll want more out of your system, but if you're looking for a solid sound setup at the right price, the Bose serves - and abundantly so. Combined with great ergonomics and a reliable navigation system, the total package is tough to beat, given the MSRP, and makes the CX-7 one of the best crossovers on the market.
