Insider info: I decided to buy relatively exotic components that aren't used by too many people (at least until I ran out of money). Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers are not mainstream yet. The Black Denon piece is pretty rare in the U.S. I only know of a few folks that have them. The Helix amps are relatively unknown here in the states as well. Image dynamics subs are pretty commonplace for sound quality so I decided to mount them in a fashion that is a bit exotic. On a whim, I decided to cut two holes in the floor and sink the subwoofers up front under the floor of the truck. I ran them infinite baffle for the first seven months of the season, with only a splashguard to protect them from the elements underneath the truck. My splashguard was tremendously successful but it was impossible to convince the judges that the subs were protected, particularly when they could lay on the ground and see the backsides of the subwoofers. So I built a virtually waterproof quasi A-periodic enclosure and attached it to the subs for finals. No more point deductions and it worked flawlessly while I drove on the freeway, through thunderstorms and torrential rain, on the way to finals.
What's next: I'm going to improve the fabrication/installation of the system over the off-season and possibly change subwoofer brands. The Image Dynamics subs are great subs, but aren't well-suited for the infinite baffle setup I want to use and the power I want to put on them. I'm still contemplating which class to enter next year, but most likely I'll be in the Amateur Street class.

What's next: This victory made it my fifth World Champion title (one in USACi and four in IASCA). I am pretty much happy with the current system performance but I will continue to improve some areas of the sound quality. Some of the plans include the installation of the new JBL 660 GTi speakers and I have some secret ideas that I can't tell yet. If it works, I would share some of them. I would like to compete with both of my cars again to support IASCA, if possible.
