Parties, bikini-clad women, sunny weather and of course cars ... lots and lots of cars!
Our second jaunt out to South Padre Island, TX, promised the same thrills and frills as the first show did last year: parties, bikini-clad women, sunny weather and of course cars ... lots and lots of cars. But before the spring break weekend could begin, we had to kick it off. We stuffed ourselves with BBQ beef and sausage during the Thursday night pre-party at Acoustic Edge in Houston. In between the meat munching, we checked out the installer school and then had a few nightcaps at a local watering hole with Bob and Josh from Acoustic Edge.
Early next morning we hauled ourselves up for the 8-hour Trek to South Padre Island. Three hundred eight-four miles later and we were ready for the show. Voodoo Racing and KR Motorsports were among the highest represented crews, with over a dozen cars each. Considering the cash prizes, including a Best of Show of $1,000 dollars (won by Sergio Aguilar and his 2003 Nissan 350Z), it's hardly a surprise that so many came out for their chance to bring it home.
For ladies sans a show-worthy ride, the other way to win a grand was the NGK Bikini Contest. Each day the lovely contestants shook their stuff on stage, with Mercedes Terell from the Toyo booth winning the second day.
What else? What about all the trophies, plaques, the free dyno challenge, Leanne Tweeden from SpikeTV, free swag and NOS energy drinks and NX's S15 Silvia giveaway car? The pics tell it all and will get you revved and ready for next year's Bash!
