Some of you may be wondering what happened to Round 2 of the subwoofer test. Some of you may be asking what subwoofer test. And some may even say that last issue's test was not even close to being "the" expected subwoofer test. Well, matter of fact, we are undergoing some changes to bring about some better testing procedures and to give more time to actual testing. What we wanted in the beginning is now being postponed and will continue very soon. How about a full explanation in the next issue? Okay, until then.
A couple of months ago in the May issue you may have read our Sirius Satellite story. I actually got a test demo of the product and an in-depth discussion with a couple of their music programmers. But Sirius is only half of the game that should be broadcasting (hopefully) by the time this issue is in your hands. XM Satellite Radio is the other half of the game and should be servicing your musical cravings about the same time. We visited their technological wonder studios located in Washington D.C. We went loaded with lots of questions as to why D.C., and how and when. But the awesome contrast to the trip was the 30 minute trip north of D.C. to Mapleshade Records to see how some of the purest and best jazz music is recorded. That's a contrast: Mapleshade's minimal analog two channel purism and the elaborate digital studios of XM which we visited earlier that day. XM's state-of-the-art facility is located within sight of the U.S. capitol and Mapleshade's plantation house studio is located down a country dirt road complete with pot holes that nearly swallowed our car. Coming out of the XM facility left us in awe and when we hit the dirt road, we knew we were in for a real treat! There are two things we know after this trip: Satellite Radio is going to rule the airwaves very soon and Mapleshade Records - well, actually they are CDs and everyone needs to own at least one. Listen and you will get hooked!
This month we have a special treat of six featured vehicles and four test reports! After going to spring break and seeing the awesome Ford F150 we had to shoot it! But, the sad news is this vehicle's install was removed just days after the event! Don't park nice vehicles at night in Miami to go clubbing or even to the bathroom. We are happy to give you a varied mix of products this month; we hope you enjoy the extra coverage.
